i need to figure out how to play safer. Man it is not easy when you try not to die. I think i played so gung ho that it will take a while to change my thinking. I mean my main has over 9200 deaths atm.

I am trying to look for hints tips on how people did get survivors. i am not going to waste money on scrolls or forcing it or anything else, so we'll see.

What type of super safe play styles do people use?

ps, still wish the consumables title was account wide. heck, all titles should be at this point.

I didn't change my style, just my general team setup.

As a warrior I'll still rush into mobs head first in an attempt to ball them all nicely for ES to render them useless. I now just always bring an ST shelter/union rit and SoA on at least 2 heros to micro in case I have some serious aggro on me.

slightly more defensive skillbar and teambuild, get as much health and armour on you as possible 600hp+ is good. a "running away" weapon set of a sheild and 30hp weapon

teambuild wise, i normaly ran a ele with earth magic, ward against melee, weakness/blind skills, and some knockdowns

MM necro is also good too, stick blood ritual on him/her and they will use it with reasonable inteligance, helps the monks, specialy hero monks quite alot, even with a cheap energy skillset.

play your role* aswell. although on my assassin i have done alot of critical barrage to keep away from xplodey stuff :s

endure pain is pretty handy on a warrior, along with some teamwide armour buff like watch yourself, but that got nurfed so :/

Just got it farming Vaettirs with Scroll of Hunters insight on my sin, it was super easy, usually when i farm Vaettirs i will mess around and wait for the last second to cast SF, this time i made sure to recast the second the cool down was over...

It's funny - shifting to a more cautious playstyle actually lost me my Survivor progress (I was just past r1).

I had switched from my usual RtL/daggers build to a more standard Invoke Lightning build (having abandoned Vaettir farming after a couple runs - I don't have the patience or the precision). That was fine.

I got very confident with it and started being rather gung-ho even while vanquishing, but everything turned out fine.

Then I was vanqing Jaga Moraine with a guildie. We'd had a few close calls at Avarr the Fallen (at one point having to restart the run after all our ressers died and I didn't want to kill myself to use the shrine), so I was a bit cautious going into Whiteout. I grabbed my Urgoz's Flatbow and tried to see if I could pull his buddies away - but of course it was uphill, so I brushed the edge of their spell range. The next thing I knew, I was under about 5 different snares and being bombarded with cold spells. For a second, it looked like I would make it back to the party (Olias, Xandra and my monk guildie were all doing their utmost to keep me alive)... and then the guildie got hit by a stray Water Trident as she was running towards me. With my primary heals on the ground, I died just as I reached the group.

The next attempt at him we just went for it... and beat him with no trouble at all.

...if I hadn't gotten overcautious and tried to pull, I'd still be on my way to r2. Moral of the story: sometimes throwing caution to the wind IS the safest option.

Would you post your team setup?

Myself as either ES or 100B warrior
AoTL MM with SB/SoA
SoS with splinter/ar and pwk
Panic
Incendiary ranger (usually has epidemic)
IV necro with the curses goodies (mop/enfeebling/weaken armor) + 2x hex removal
ST with shelter/union/whatever
Burst monk with SoA and whatever

Keep in mind that this is what I use in FoW. Changes are made depending on the area. If i'm not running ES the Incendiary is normally replaced with an ineptitude mesmer.

qing, perhaps get someone else, or a hero to pull/aggro
i nearly lost my survivor sin to traps, went from 600hp to 60hp in a instant

idea for those planning on books, do hardmode first, then the dicy missions in normal mode, after that the normal missions are safer, so hopefully you can gain a decent amount of no death xp from that...

I'm at 310k xp now doing Zmissions, Zquests, ZVQ and daily WiK Bounties. Since the survivor update I only lost progress once doing a HM WiK bounty(I hate party limit of 6 >_< ). Lost it when i was at 293k so yea...I got the lost xp back really quick doing HM stuff. I'm quite happy to see I managed to do HM Ooze Pit with no survivor reset(Death Pact signet and Dungeon boulders are some really nice tools to recover from a party wipe :P)

I have seen a few people in Longeye's Ledge asking to leech , and some vaettir farmer actually taking leechers. I don't understand how they manage to get the experience, maybe they cast shadow form and mess with aggro?

It has taken around 6 months for my para to get LS. I did full FC, EoTN and NF. Yesterday it took around 3 hrs for my Assasin to get it. But I don't care. I like the changes and I like as it is. No qq.

I just got it on my 2005-born main, yay! Mostly doing 2 person FoW clearings. Made me a good deal of money too, and a req 9 purple max crystalline sword out of the wailing lord's chest.

The only thing that's changed for me is I've stopped PvPing on my main in between VQs/skill capping! Should have started after the previous update, but I have enough skills left to cap/areas left to vanquish LS won't be a problem. Props to ANet, I never felt like going for LS on a new character, and all of my mains are from 2005/2006. Now they have a chance for an extra title, and GWAMM is sort-of within reach (if I can come up with a few million to buy sweets, alcohol, and party treats!)

My playing style isn't going to change. I have something like 1k deaths on my main (necro). I think I just have to blow things off faster.

Update: just got myself killed by Murakai when I turned off the interface to take screenshots, was not interrupting, and my heroes didn't interrupt either, and we insta-wiped. Ah, well.

I wasn't planning changing my playstyle, but I've been sitting on 20 LB scrolls. Soooo I fired up the hulking stone elementalist farmer build, and off I went. Took about 8-9 scrolls, killing about 30-35 mobs (including Cobble Poundstone - 1,400 XP!) but I got to R1 today, and I'm halfway to R2.

I must stay strong haha

I just died after 4 million XP of no deaths, I think I was ganked by a GM, probably thought i was a bot because my farming routine is always the same, anyone who farmed the Vaettirs knows once you start to take damage just re-up an enchantment and it will nullify there damage, I redid 3 of my Assassin enchantments and the damage never stop, even ate candy apple to get 100 xtra hp, wish I had it recorded, oh well i got the title.

Did 2 fullruns of FoW with my heroes today, get about 120k per run and it's not as tedious as Boxing/Vaettir etc.
